The Raclette du Valais AOP
We are very happy to offer you this cheese, typical from the area. It's been made in the Orsières Milk Factory
This semi-hard cheese is made with raw milk with 50% of fat. It has been aged for a minimum of 3 months in their cellar. The famous recipe which consists of melting the cheese in front of a wooden fire and spread it on a potato, called the Raclette, made its reputation around the world. Nowadays the fire has usually been replaced by electric devices, but the taste remains. This cheese can also be appreciated without melting it, on a piece of bread.
Our cheese won the gold medal (2021) and silver medal (2023) at the Great Swiss Terroir Awards as well as the silver medal at the Swiss Cheese Awards 2022.
Conservation:
We suggest to keep it in the fridge. If you don't have a fridge, keep it in the packaging and avoid the sun. But nothing will prevent you to eat it on the go with a slice of bread, an apple or some delicatessen or with every of them altogether for a better experience.
The Verbier Fondue
If you've visited Marc or his team, they probably asked you where you're from, how long you're in Verbier and offered recommendations for a memorable stay. The Laiterie de Verbier embodies the region's values of hospitality and service. And, having won the Swiss Cheese Awards on several occasions, they've proven their uncompromising approach to quality time and time again.
This fondue is designed by the Dubosson family and their special recipe which includes a mix of different Swiss cheese to have a tasty and creamy result.
Recipe: warm 1,5 dl of white wine. Before boiling, add the cheese and continue to mix until the cheese is melted. If you like you can add some sliced garlic to the mix.
Conservation: Keep the mix in the fridge if possible.
The apricot juice
In association with the local brand Iris, which produces different products made out of local fruit, we offer you this apricot juice. Iris' products contain no additive or colorants and are certified by the label Valais as typical and local products with strict specifications.
In the Valais County we are very proud of our apricot production which is the most important one in Switzerland. Farming apricots in an alpine environment is a real challenge. But our farmers have mastered this art for centuries in the Rhone valley fighting every year against ice (see picture) and diseases to produce the sweetest fruit possible. July is the beginning of the harvest season, and you might have the opportunity to buy some fruit direct from the producer when you leave Verbier. It’s really worth a try!
Keep the bottle in a fresh place and enjoy it after your run, it’ll be your best recovery ever!
